Recipe Scaler

Need more or less than the recipe makes? Enter your ingredients, then scale by a multiplier, by servings, or to match the amount of one ingredient you have.

Multiply every ingredient by ×1

  • 200 g Plain flour
  • 150 g Caster sugar
  • 2 Eggs

Every ingredient is multiplied by the same factor. Raising agents, spices and bake times often need small adjustments for very large or small batches.

How the recipe scaler works

The scaler multiplies every ingredient by the same factor. You can enter a multiplier, a number of servings, or the amount of one ingredient you have and let the scaler work out the rest. Raising agents, spices and bake times do not always scale in a straight line, so check large changes carefully.

Frequently asked questions

How do I double a recipe?

Multiply every ingredient by two, or choose a multiplier of 2 in the scaler. Use a bigger tin or bake in batches, and check the bake time as it may change.

How do I halve a recipe that uses one egg?

Beat the egg, then use half of it by weight. A large egg is about 50 g without the shell, so half is around 25 g.

Can I scale a recipe by the amount of one ingredient?

Yes. Enter the amount of the ingredient you have, for example 300 g of flour, and the scaler works out the factor and scales everything else to match.
