You need about 1,047 ml of batter
About 943 g by weight
Each tin takes about 1,047 ml (943 g)
Works out what each tin or case holds (base area times height, or a typical case capacity) and fills it to the level you choose. The weight is an estimate that assumes about 0.9 g of batter per ml, so a very dense or very light batter will differ a little. Measure the inside of the tin, from the base to the rim.
Every tin and cupcake case holds a certain volume. The calculator works out that volume from the size of your tin, or from a typical capacity for mini, standard and jumbo cases, then fills it to the level you choose. Multiply by the number of tins or cupcakes and you have the total batter, with a weight estimate so you can weigh it straight into the bowl.
Most cakes rise by around a third, so fill the tin about two thirds full. A cake that rises very little, such as a brownie or a dense fruit cake, can be filled higher, up to three quarters.
A standard case takes about 53 ml of batter when filled two thirds, roughly 48 g, so a recipe for 12 cupcakes needs around 640 ml. Mini cases need about 20 ml and jumbo muffin cases about 120 ml.
Compare the batter your tins need with what your recipe makes. If you need more or less, use the recipe scaler to multiply every ingredient by the same amount.
